Two weeks and counting

This week Maya had to say a teary goodbye to her Gran-E, Grandpa, and Aunt Jessica as they headed home to NY. Maya celebrated her first Chanukah which included a visit from Saba, Uncle Avinoam, and Shayna.

She continues to grow and get cuter by the minute.

Recap of Week 1

Week one has come and gone. Maya continued to have family and friends visit throughout the week. She took her first sponge bath, went on her first outing to lunch with Gram-E, Grandpa Les, and Aunt Jessica, went to her first doctor's appointment and got her first vaccine, went back to the doctor's and got her first prescription (for thrush), went through her first package of diapers, and began to open her eyes to view the world around her.

Many have asked about Maya Josephine's namesake this week. Maya is named in memory of Akiva's paternal grandmother, Mildred, and Sharon's paternal grandfather, Joseph. Maya also holds the initials M.J., which is an approved nickname. MJ (Mary Jane) was a dear friend and colleague of Akiva's who tragically passed away at a young age. We hope that Maya will embody the wonderful traits of her namesakes.

First days of life

Maya had an exciting first couple of days. She met her grandparents, aunt, uncle, and friends. Life at the hospital was non-stop excitement. Both Mommy and Maya had all of their needs attended to. The days were filled with lots of cuddling and kisses (and dirty diapers).

Our family continues to enjoy getting to know one another.
